An initiative made possible thanks to the campers… and amplified by the campsite
At Camping Aventure Mégantic, we believe that every little action can help preserve the natural environment that welcomes us. This year, we continued this approach by offsetting 14.20 tonnes of CO₂ by planting 78 trees in the Eastern Townships, in collaboration with CO₂ Compensation Quebec.
A collective contribution that matters
Throughout the season, several campers chose to add a voluntary contribution during their booking process in order to reduce the environmental footprint associated with their stay. To amplify the impact of this action, The campground has pledged to double every dollar raised.allowing for even more significant action.
Thanks to this joint effort, 78 trees will be planted in Lingwick, on land dedicated to reforestation. This planting will, over the years, bring tangible benefits to the environment and future generations.
What 78 new trees represent
Each tree planted plays a vital role in the balance of ecosystems. Together, these 78 trees will, in particular, help to:
- Capture approximately 14 tonnes of CO₂ during their growth, the equivalent of more than 55,000 km travelled by car.
- To produce enough oxygen for nearly 150 people each year, thus contributing to air quality.
- Intercepting more than 4,500 liters of rainwater per yearreducing runoff and helping to prevent soil erosion.
- Create a new habitat for local wildlifeincluding birds, pollinating insects and small mammals.
- Improving the biodiversity of the sector, by enriching a wooded area located in the Eastern Townships.
Very real benefits, generated by a simple action… but multiplied when done together.
An approach that reflects our values
As a site where nature is central to the experience, we believe it is essential to take concrete steps to preserve it. This initiative is part of a long-term vision to reduce our environmental impact, while raising awareness among our camping community about accessible solutions to offset their greenhouse gas emissions.
