Our municipality has chosen to go ahead with the collection of compostable materials. As the environment is important to us, we will also do our part to ensure that these new compost bins reduce our over-filled bins!
Composting is a more ecological and less expensive solution than landfilling!
Our efforts for the environment and sustainable development are only successful if everyone is involved.
In this way, the collection of compostable materials is added to our already existing collections: recovery, cans, hazardous materials (propane tank and batteries) and ink cartridges that we donate to Mira.
Did you know:
- More than 50 % of the contents of your garbage bag are made up of compostable organic matter?
- 450 grams (1 lb) of organic matter buried in a landfill produces 3 cubic meters (10 cubic feet) of biogas, especially methane, one of the main gases responsible for the greenhouse effect.
- The “Where's Going” application quickly answers questions and helps sort products for recycling, composting or garbage disposal.
