On Saturday, October 2, the first edition of the Oktoberfest Bières et Saucisses de Camping Aventure Mégantic took place. Organized as a fundraiser, all profits from the sale of alcohol and games were donated to the organization La Bouée, a shelter for women and children victims of domestic violence.
"We are very satisfied with the results of the activity" announces Ms. Julie Rouillard, co-owner of the campsite. “We would mainly like to thank our wonderful partners, La Gare'nison and 11 Comtés microbreweries, who donated a percentage of their sale to the organization.
We were also able to count on the presence of the Ferme des Petits Torrieux to offer sausages and grills. They all knew how to be there to the delight of the campers. Nothing could have been achieved without their support. "
Indeed, it is with their help that a total of 1320$ was raised to support the organization's new youth program. The day was finally filled with activities such as makeup for children, a half-and-half, a photo rally, an electric game and the brilliant performance of the chansonniers Steff & Kriss.
Remember that La Bouée is a shelter for women and children victims of domestic violence working in the Lac-Mégantic region and its surroundings. This organization offers support, intervention and awareness services for women wishing to regain power over their lives. La Bouée recently opened a youth intervention program so that mothers and their children can go through their new reality together. If you are a victim or a witness, the Buoy is available at all times at 1-888-583-1233. You can also follow the organization on Facebook or Instagram at @labouee.
