In 1939, the road that became today's Route 257 was extended to provide access to the United States. Starting in the 1940s, passing tourists tried the "Magnetic Coast"; they found this place very special... and the residents living near the coast wondered about the comings and goings of these foreigners.

It was in 1970 that Mr. Victor Lamontagne, then parish priest of Chartierville, drew attention to the phenomenon of the magnetic hill and promoted it.

A series of coincidences creates the phenomenon of the magnetic hill: a hidden horizon and a steep slope play with our senses... wonder, amusement, and surprise await you. Come try it. It's located on Highway 257 South, between the village of Chartierville and the border crossing.

In addition, the municipality has installed an information kiosk near the coast; a tourist guide awaits you there from Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the summer season.
