An initiative made possible thanks to campers… and matched by the campground. At Camping Aventure Mégantic, we believe that every little gesture can help preserve the nature that welcomes us. This year, we continued this commitment by offsetting 14.2 tonnes of CO₂ through the planting of 78 trees in the Eastern Townships, in collaboration with Compensation CO₂ Québec. A collective contribution that matters. Throughout the season, many campers chose to add a voluntary contribution when booking to reduce the ecological footprint associated with their stay. To amplify the impact of this gesture, the campground pledged to match every dollar raised, allowing for even more significant action. Thanks to this collective effort, 78 trees will be planted in Lingwick, on a property dedicated to reforestation. This planting will, over the years, bring tangible benefits to the environment and future generations. What 78 new trees represent. Each tree planted plays a vital role in the balance of ecosystems. Together, these 78 trees will: Capture approximately 14 tonnes of CO₂ during their growth, the equivalent of driving over 55,000 km. Produce enough oxygen for nearly 150 people each year, thus contributing to air quality. Intercept over 4,500 litres of rainwater annually, reducing runoff and helping to prevent soil erosion. Create a new habitat for local wildlife, including birds, pollinating insects, and small mammals. Improve the area's biodiversity by enriching a wooded area in the Eastern Townships. These are tangible benefits generated by a simple action… but multiplied when done together. This approach reflects our values. As a site where nature is central to the experience, we believe it is essential to take concrete steps to preserve it. This initiative is part of a long-term vision to reduce our environmental impact, while raising awareness among our camping community about accessible solutions to offset their greenhouse gas emissions.
